Alarm Maintenance
Have you fulfilled your statutory obligations under the Fire Precautions
Act 1971?
The
Act requires that the following tests are carried out:
Daily
A visual inspection of the fire alarm panel to ensure no faults
are apparent.
Weekly
At an appointed time/ day each week a fire alarm manual call point
(MCP) should be tested. The MCPs should be labelled and the weekly
test rotated to ensure that all MCPs are tested
a) a visual inspection of all the standby batteries should be
made
b) a visual inspection of all MCPs, heat detectors, etc. to ensure
they are free from obstruction and not damaged
Quarterly
A service of the fire alarm system must be carried out by a qualified
person.
Annually
Full system service by a qualified person.
