Frequently Asked Questions;
1)
How do I change my keyholder details?
Changes
of keyholder must be notified to Alpha Alarms- not the alarm receiving
centre. Keyholder changes cannot be accepted via the telephone, they
must be in writing (however, this may be faxed).
Keyholder changes received before 1600 hours (in normal working hours)
will be amended the same day. After 1600 hours the record will be amended
the following working day ie) Monday to Friday inclusive (except Bank
Holidays).
2)
How long will the standby battery last in the event of a mains failure?
Our
systems are designed to provide a minimum of 8 hours standby time in
the event of a mains failure.
If the mains supply is re-established in less than 8 hours then the
battery will automatically recharge. Please note that you may need to
turn the alarm system on then off to clear the mains fail condition
displayed in the control panel.
If the mains is off for longer than 8 hours then the following may occur;
-Battery
discharges and sends a 'low battery' signal to the monitoring station
-Outside
siren sounds (powered by its integral battery) for a period of approximately
30 minutes.
Note that you should request engineering assistance if the mains has been off for more than 8 hours but that the engineer will be unable to assist until the mains supply is re-established.
3)
Can I call out Alpha Alarms if my system is not covered under maintenance
contract?
No,
only contracted customers receive engineers assistance, if you wish
to take out a maintenance contract contact our service department for
details.
4)
Can my routine service inspection be carried out outside normal working
hours?
Our
annual maintenance charge assumes that we can gain access during our
normal working hours ie) Monday to Friday (inclusive), 0900-1700 hours,
except Bank Holidays. We are able to carry out routine service work
outside normal working hours by special arrangement and at additional
cost.
5)
How do I reset my alarm following an activation?
i)
'Audible Only' systems can be reset by the user- follow instructions
in the system manual or ring the service department for assistance.
ii)
'Signaling systems' cannot be reset by the end user (see ACPO requirements).
Many
systems incorporate a remote reset facility whereby the systems can
be reset by exchanging codes generated randomly via the alarm receiving
centre controller.
